Rope-tuned ceramic Doumbek Drums

Stoneharp drums are rope tuned ceramic doumbeks. They are all individually crafted by Ron. The stem and the bowl are thrown on the potter's wheel separately and then joined. They are high-fired for durability. Ron fabricates three steel rings for each drum. The heads are made from imported goat or calf skin. The tuning rope is non-stretch drum rope. Ron uses the mali weave knotting system for tuning, traditionally used on African djembe drums. They are owned by musicians and produce exceptional sound.
